Looking for SHAW family members of
PHILIP RODBUR SHAW born abt 1797 possibly in Gloucestershire area, possibly Avon/Bristol area.
I believe he had family there, as his own daughter moved there after the death of her husband. That daughter was Sophia Charlotte Shaw Woolmington. She died in Avon, and had a boarding house there.
Philip had a son, Philip b1825 that came to America. He married twice, 1st to Sabina Longman in 1818 and 2nd to Penelope Miller in 1822 after Sabina died during or shortly after childbirth.
I have been able to find most of their children, but not all.
Sabina, Philip Rodbur II, Sophia Charlotte Shaw Woolmington, Sarah Miller Shaw (miller was her middle name and mothers maiden), and Samuel Hooper Shaw (Hooper was mothers father's name). He lived and married in Dorset and Somerset, but was not born there, no birth registers for him in either county.
Due to this naming practice, I believe the the eldest Philip Rodbur Shaw was married to a Rodbur...just a hunch.
Philip Rodbur II came to America and no one has ever known much about the English relatives, ok, nothing until I was fortunate to find out some of what we now know. Would love to find living relatives for info on the family on that side of the pond. :) One of the few hints we have is that the 1825 Philip Rodbur was called 'the red-headed Englishman'.
Regards,
