Hello!
I am old to genealogy, but completely NEW to Wales. If there is anyone out there who can give a newbie a little assistance - I would surely be very grateful to you!
Precisely I am trying to find out what County and/or District oversees Cardiff? Also, would records for Cardiff (birth - 1870) be in the Newport District. I have found my Hannah Jane COLLIER born 9 Nov 1870 in and index for Dec 1870 Newport "M" (???) District Volume 11a page 196, but I haven't a clue what any of it means or if I've found the right record. Can anyone shed a little light on this for me??
I believe that Ponty Pridd (though spelled all one word on old family records) is in Aberdare? Is this correct?
I can't even seem to find a map on the web and all the names seem to have no vowels - I think I am having a little culture shock! Thanks for your kindness in responding! |
