I have recently traced my birth mum but she does not want to meet me as she has never told her husband (now of over 30 years) that she had a child before they met. Clearly she didn't want a baby at a young age and this is an episode long forgotten in her mind and I am trying to come to terms with this.

However, my research has uncovered that my mother had one more child after marriage, my half brother I guess, who is 10 years younger than me. I assume that he has no idea that I exist.

I am keen to find out more and am tempted to use an investigator to find out more about him (and her), and photo's if possible, etc. This said I am very concerned not to open a 'can of worms' for all involved, not to mention whether there are investigative agencies who can assist with this sort of thing.

Has anyone had similar experiences? I am attempting to approach this maturely and from afar, but have no-one I can really talk to who will understand what I am going through and who may be able to help me asses the pitfalls I may face.

Am I better simply walking away from this and getting on with my life as I have known it?

Any help much appreciated

Chris
