Can anyone tell me about Paul Swank? I have done an extensive search of the USA search engines and cannot find out anything about him. Let me tell you what I know about him.

Around 1994 a clearing was made beside the road at the Gorge running through Quillan (the Pierre de Lyse St Martin) in Rousillon, France. Quillan is on the edge of the Aude dept and is about 70 miles inland from Perpignan. At first I thought this clearing was to be a pull-in or viewpoint as the road running round the gorge is very narrow. After a few months a large monument was erected, like a huge tomb on a plinth. The inscription says that Paul Swank was an American who fought with the French during WWII and it gave the date of his death which was sometime in 44/45 (it is very difficult to get access to read this because of the narrowness of the road and the heavy but slow moving traffic). He was obviously important enough to have had such a marvellous edifice raised in his name on the spot where he fell but I cannot find out anymore abut him. I hope someone else finds this just as interesting and can give me a few more clues as to who Paul Swank was.
