I am searching for relatives of my father-in-law, James William Burns. He was born in Amble, Northumberland on 12th May 1916 to Peter James Burns who was a platelayer with the railway and his wife Catherine Elizabeth Burns nee Turnbull. They lived at 8 Station Cottages in Amble. We are not sure if he was an only child or if there were others. He served with the 2nd Bttn Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He served in Burma where he met and married my mother-in law Pansy Beryl nee davidson in 1941. They had 6 children the first being born in 1944 in Hexham so they had moved back to the Northumberland area. The child's name was John Robert Burns. Their last known address was 120a Brecksfield, Skelton, York where they lived until James died in 1966 of a heart attack and Pansy died in 1970 of cancer. The three youngest were fostered out. My husband being the eldest of the three at 9 years old. We have no other information on either the Burns or Turnbull family on this side but would be very very grateful if anyone out there knows anything that can help us find them. We feel that the turnbulls were from this area and maybe the burns' came from Scotland orr Ireland originally. Please send any information you have to the email address so that we may find the rest of the family. Thank you
