Joseph Henry Mortimer - born October 20 1875 either in Hull, East Yorkshire or Essex (family not sure) I suspect its Hull. He went by the name of Jack. His father was ..... Mortimer (don't know his first name) and his mother was Millicent Ridgeway. Story is that Jack's father died and Millicent remarried. Not sure if the surname Ridgeway is a maiden name or the name she assumed with the second marriage. Jack Mortimer (my great grandfather) was rumoured to have been in the British Army. He immigrated to Halifax, Canada about 1901 or 1902. He married my great grandmother Mary McMillan Cameron, and they named their first child Millicent(born 1903) after Jack's mother. This family and siblings of Mary..moved West to British Columbia ..shortly after the death of the first born child Millicent(lived only 8 months died of "milk fever" as per family bible entry). The descendents are still there today.
Thanks for any help in locating family for Jack (Joseph Henry) Mortimer, he is supposed to have at least one other sibling that we know of. One more thing, Jack served in the First Canadian Expeditionary Forces, he was a Corporal when he was discharged. Gerrie in British Columbia, Canada
