DEVON and SOMERSET in England
surnames : WILKEY WAY GOULD (and maybe FRY too ?)
My great great grandfather Charles Richard WILKEY (1800-1885) emigrated to South Australia in 1836, arriving in Adelaide South Australia on 12 Jan 1837 accompanied by Rachel WAY (1815-1895).
The father of Rachel WAY was Charles WAY.
The parents of Charles Richard WILKEY were William WILKEY and Mary GOULD and these parents were married on 27 March 1791 at Taunton St James Somerset England.
Some of the children of Charles Richard WILKEY and Rachel (nee WAY) had a middle given name of FRY yet I cannot yet see why. Just before Charles Richard WILKEY and Rachel (nee WAY) emigrated to Australia they were living in Ford's Building in Battersea London according to the Colonial Secretaries Correspondence.
Rachel (nee WAY) came from Somerset England according to very early Adelaide hospital admission records for Rachel accessed in South Australia.
I would like to make contact with any descendant of the father of Rachel - that is any descendant of Charles WAY who would have been born before 1800 and probably lived in Somerset. I would also like to try to discover the name fo the mother of Rachel (nee WAY).
