My mother was called Alice Massey born 01 October 1914 at 26 Greystoke Street, Stockport, Cheshire.
Her father was John Massey who, according to her birth certificate, was a policeman (in Stockport) and was a Farmer on her marriage certificate. He had a farm in Glossop. He and my grandmother also ran the Horsfield Arms in Brinnington, Stockport during the 1950s.
Her mother was Elizabeth Massey (probably born in Horwich, Bolton). My mother was a twin and one of five daughters.
