Robert William Black I am looking for information on my grandfather and his family. He emigrated to Canada in the early 1900's, We believe he was born in 1880, or 1881. He was a lowlander and lived in the dumfries region of Scotland. He left on bad terms with his family and never returned to Scotland, may have had a brother Tom. He also had the nick name Blackie, and when his first son was born he was named Donald Black and nicknamed Dave one of thse names thought to be for a best friend back in Scotland. He was contacted by his family when his parents passed away but did not contact the family. He had a history of alcoholism and post traumatic stress syndrome from war time. He was not a very happy man, and died at the age of 62, of a stroke in Ontario Canada, leaving grandmother Rose Lillian Black and 7 children. Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated. The town Dumfriesshire, rings bells to the remaining surviving children. He has two children who survive him, Jenny and Betty. His eldest son Donald passed away last December 1999, and Russel, Robert , Rosie and Gladys, all passed on several years ago. We believe he and my grandmother emigrated to Toronto Canada and lived in the Longbranch area, of Ontario.
