I am trying to trace my ancestry back and I have hit a stumbling block. I understand that all Roseweir's are related. My father and mother are from Scotland and came to the USA in 1927. Following is the information I have uncovered. If you have any information that would help me in my search I would appreciate it if you could fill in any blanks.
My name is Andrew Tomlin Roseweir borh in USA in 1942. One of seven children.
Father's name was Alexander Roseweir married to Janet Nelson Tomlin. He was born 1898 or 1900 3 Dec.at 21 Robertson Place, Kilmaurs or Kilmarnock?. He was one of many children: John, William, Robert, James, Margaret, Jesse(killed)?, Anne, Meg?, Mary married John Peart, Elizabeth married David Watson, Findlay. I do not know if this is all of them or not. His father was Robert Roseweir born 10 Aug. 1859 at 34 Dean Street Kilmarnock. Robert was married to Janet Hopkins Roseweir. There were brothers and sister of Robert. One was Margaret who was his twin!He also had brother Alexander and James. Robert Roseweir died 17th Aug. 1925 at 14 Busbie Row, Crosshouse. He was the son of James Roseweir and Mary Baird. They were married in the parish of Newton 1839. They had several children and according to the 1851 Census Newton-on-Ayr. He was listed as head of house age 38 born in Newton and Mary, his wife born in Monkton. The following children were listed: Mary, Alexander, John, Andrew, Elizabeth. They lived at Weaver Street.
In the 1861 Census Kilmarnock it was listed as: James Weir Old Cast Lane HOHouse 42, Mary wife, Children: Alexander, Mary, John, Andrew, Elizabeth, Catherine, James, William, Margaret.
James Roseweir reported dead 15 Apr. 1861 at Old Cast Lane. His wife Mary Baird died 25 Nov 1884 at Fore Street she was the daughter of Alexander Baird and Mary Guthrie. James was the son of Jacob Roseweir, spelling sometimes Roseware, Rosware, Roswire. The records list Jacob and Catherine Torbet having a son babtized in March 14 1919 as James. I have two listings for the marriage of Jacob and Catherine. Jacob ROSSWARE and TORBET 27 Dec1813 at Kirkoswald Ayr and also listed as Jacob ROSEWARE and Catherine TORBAT 26 Dec 1813 at Maybole AYR.
There is a Jacob Roswire listed in Census 1851 Newton-on-Ayr- Born in Newton
Wife Catherine born Kirkoswald
Daughter Jane G, grandson Robert Chambers, and son in law Thomas Barclay..
Jacob is reported dead 4 June 1857 at York Lane Newton on Ayr a railway labourer died age 73 married and the son of Janet McMurtrie , deceased and father's name not known by informant Buried in Newton Churchyard. Informant was William McKAil nephew.
Catherine died 6 Oct. 1866 at York Street Newton on Ayr daughter of James Thorburn a farmer and Elizabeth Thorburn maiden name McClure.
It is at this point that we lose the family tree. I need to know thwe name of Jacobs mother and father where they were born and any additional information available from Family Bibles, letters or knowledge passed down through the family. Your co-operation in this matter would be highly appreciated. If you know how we are related please advise me. My understanding is that we Roseweirs are all related. It shows in the records that the family shows up in 1700-1800's in Kilmarnock area and that all Roseweirs are related or part of one family. It is my desire to establish a complete family tree. Your help would be of a great value. I f you would like to get in touch with me my Address is Andrew T. Roseweir

My father used to always tell us that the name Roseweir was a combined name of one of the grandfathers combining the ROSE with WEIR. I am named after my mothers brother and therefore carry the middle name Tomlin. This could also be the case??? For example it could have been
Alexander Rose Weir and the name combined. This is only my thought and I have no proof of this. Please help me in this endeavor. It already has cost me a considerable sum in having the Geneology Research done.I will share my finished report with any Roseweir who would like it.

Thank you again
