McElrea John of Cappagh Co. Tyrone is believed to have been a scottish soldier who was given 13 acres of land at Newton Sterart and settled there C1760. I have no research beyond this date as to where he came from, where he was born or when he was born and desperately would love to have these questions answered. I would love to hear from anyone who would be able to help. In Ireland he married and had a very large family. Descendants settled in other parts of the Globe. Australia, New Zealand and United States that I know of. I would be happy to swap information from interested persons.
