I am resreaching the name HOLMES in the Middlesbrough and Northallerton areas of North Yorkshire. My great grand parents were a James and Elizabeth Holmes married in 1864, they had 4 children, Polly, Charlotte, Elizabeth( my grandmother) and Thomas who died in Lingdale in a mining accident. James parents were a Thomas and Isabella Holmes married in Grinton, near Grassington,in 1867, in 1891 they were living in Middlesbrough with there children George age 10, Mary age 12, James age 10, and Lizzie Kate. Thomas Holmes parents lived in Northallerton, his mother was called Elizabeth, in 1851 they had the following children, Mary, George, Elizabeth, Sarah, Thomas,and John. Also looking for a missing Uncle, a Thomas James Pontus Holmes, born in Middlesbrough in 1916, and been missing for some 50yrs, is there any one with this name or the surname Holmes in your family?.
