On the 7th. May 1928, my grandmother, JANE MARY BAUM gave birth to a son at TY CANOL FARM, PORTHNANT (Nantgwytheyrn), who was registered as DAVID JONES BAUM. As she was unmarried at the time, the child was given away to be raised by someone else. In the local school admissions register, a GWILYM JOHN THOMAS was admitted on the 7th. January 1932. His date of birth was 7/5/1928, and his address was Ty Canol Farm, Porthnant. His father's name was William Thomas. I have checked the G.R.O. Indexes, and there is no entry of birth for a Gwilym John Thomas in 1928, which makes me think that he is David Jones Baum. From the same school register, I have found other siblings, namely: a sister Olwen, b. 26/11/1926; and two brothers, Gwynfor, b. 1/10/1930; and Evan Richard, b. 15/11/1931.
