I am searching for any information pertaining to a Mary Ellen CATHERWOOD who married Harold JOHNSTON. I don't know for sure where in Ireland they may have come from, nor do I know when they were born or moved to America. I do know that they settled in Brooklyn, NY. Harold "may" have come from (and I quote an aunt) "A little isle off Ireland, so he may have had some Scots in him." That was a BIG concession from her. He drove a hanson (hansom?) cab for a living and was catholic. He and Mary Ellen had young Harold, Joseph (both killed in WWI), Beatrice Mae born 1890(my grandmother), Ione, and possibly Rosemary. Mary Ellen may have had a brother named William, and either she or her husband may have had sisters named Bernadette and Rosemary (those may have been their convent names, since they were Sisters of Mercy, but could have also been their given names).
