The following is information I have pertaining to my ggrandmother Ellen (Delia) Byrne, who was born in Waterford, Ireland. Family albums indicate a relationship on her mother's side to Bishop John Power II (picture in
attachment) of Waterford (b. 1809 - Affane, d. 1887). We have yet to discover what that relationship might be.
William Byrne married Ellen Brien (O'Brien). Their children born in the Parish of Modeligo in the church of Modeligo(Town of Cappoquin?)were as follows:
John 1857 sponsors Michael Murray and Bridget Nugent
John 1862 sponsors Daniel Buckley and Mary Nugent
Brigid 1865 sponsors Thomas Fitzgerald and Margaret Nugent
Ellen 1869(Dehlia)sponsors Patrick Green and Margaret Coughlan
Elizabeth 1871 sponsors David Heffernan and Mary Heffernan
Margaret 1874 sponsors Maurice Condon and Alice Butler
Ellen (Delia)and Margaret emigrated to Yonkers NY Ellen married Patrick Lynch.
Another daughter, Mary, who was born c. 1855 (but does not appear in the records kept by the Waterford Heritage Center) also emigrated to Yonkers and married John Regan. John died in December 1899, Mary in June of 1917. Both
are buried in St. Joseph's cemetery in Yonkers.
They had the following children:
Catherine - b. March 1878
John - b. February 1879
Mary - b. July 1881
Peter - b. December 1883
William - b? - not listed in US Federal Census (1900).
