I am looking for my family. My great grandfather came to the United States in the late 1800's, we believe between 1865 and 1875 because my grandfather was born around 1876. My great grandfather's name was Patrick McElhinney. He was married to Mary McClusky (not sure of the spelling). They were young and problably newly married. They settled in Orange, New Jersey. Patrick help to build St. John's Catholic Church in Orange. He work there as a carpenter and a brick layer. I believe that Mary may have taught school. I wish I knew more. But if anyone knows of a Patrick and Mary McElhinney who came to America around the late 1800's please let me know. There is a small outside chance that our last name was once spelled McIlhenney. There was a story told by a great Aunt that the spelling of the name may have been changed. Thank you for letting me try to find my family's past.
