I am trying to locate any record of my Grandfather:William Richard Cecil Evan Hanes. He was born aroung 1883 to 1888 in Cardiff and came out to South Africa as a bugler boy during the Boer War 1899 to 1902. His father had left him in Wales where he was brought up by his maternal grandparents as his mom died during his birth. His dad settled in South Africa at least by 1890 and fought the British as he was a boer citizen.
He could have been an Evan or a Hanes. |
