Looking for ROSS and McNITT (also spelled McKnight or McNaught).
--ROSS: My Ross relatives were orginally from Scotland then went to Ireland and from there to America in the 1700s. Family names: John Ross (b. 1789) married Susanna McNITT (b. 1793)--both born in Pennsylvania--America). Susanna's McNitt ancestors came from Laggen, Ulster, Ireland, but SCOTLAND before then. ROSS names carried on through the generations include for the boys James McClure Ross, William David Ross, James Irwin Ross; Elizabeth, Matilda, Mary Ann, and Martha for the girls. Susanna's McNITT relatives were some of the first settlers on the East Kishacoquillas Creek in Pennsylvania in 1755 and four of her relatives fought in the American Revolutionary War against the British.
--If you have any family tradition stories about any McNITT relatives intermarring with ROSSES after they moved to America in the 1700s, we might be related. Would love to trace either line back to SCOTLAND as we know that is where our roots are located. (There is possibility the McNitts came directly from Scotland to America before 1755).
--THANK you for any help you can be. |
