Looking for information on family of John Patton, born 1838/39 possibly in Holywood, County Down. He was the son of William Patton and ? There is a strong possibility his mothers maiden name was Jackson. I believe he may have had at least one brother named Joseph. I have seen a very old photograph and written on the back was 'J Patton, Woodvale Park, Belfast' and I was told this was Joseph. Anybody familiar with this address from around the 1860/80 period perhaps.
John Patton married Euphemia Campbell in NZ in November 1865, and sadly drowned in 1873, leaving behind a young widow and four young children.
Their names were:
Jessie Patton b 22/8/1866, (who went to Australia and married a Mr Craig in Brisbane(?),
William Jackson Patton b 19/11/1868, who also went to Australia and married in Sydney Wollongong),
Peter Gardner Campbell Patton b 31/3/1871 (stayed in NZ) and John Patton who also stayed in NZ. |
