Does anyone have details or information on JOHN ROBERTSON (around 1780 to 1840)whi lived in Scotland. Info re his birth, death, marriage or children would be much appreciated.
It is understood that John belonged to the Lude branch of the Robertsons and was a scholarly man and master of 10 languages. The story is that he moved from Berkwickshire to Orkney where he rented or owned an island where he did well with sheep until he was ruined in the 1820's.
One of his sons Adam Robertson (B6/8/06)who later immigrated to Australia in 1839 is my forebearer.
Does any one know of a relationship to James Sutherland Robertson born 1810 at Creetown(could he be a son or nephew?) |
